What are the small dumb things that have a positive placebo effect on you?
Off the top of my head, there are two I can think of.
One is weight lifting gloves during strength sessions. I don't *really* need them, they're not giving me any better grip or preventing calluses, but they give me a small mental boost that helps me push out a few extra reps.
Another is working out in either MMA shorts or swim/boardshorts. It helps me get into a warrior mentality which again helps me push myself a bit further.

Water. As strange as it sounds, when I don't drink a lot of water and really over-hydrate, I feel that I am tired and don't have the energy that I do when I drink water. Now I fully realize this makes zero sense but if I am feeling tired in the afternoon I can chug a couple of bottles waters and feel like I get a boost.

Going to the gym after work. I'm not at home, I'm not at work, I'm just .... "in the zone"
