I've been playing around with possibly doing a podcast for the saloon for awhile. I've researched the best microphones, the correct software, and how to do it if necessary, from two different locations. A friend of mine would be doing it with me and he lives about an hour away. We wouldn't always have time to be in the same room. It was going to be a bit of work and quite a learning curve for myself, as I have zero audio experience.
Something recently came up that gave me an idea. I purchased an XBox 360 with Kinect (motion sensing software). It has an "app" that allows you to do a video conference and use an avatar to represent yourself. The motion detection would mimic your facial expressions and body movements.
Last night my buddy and I did a quick test,
just to see if the audio was acceptable. We did it in poor lighting, with zero setup and zero preparation. With the bad lighting, our arms were constantly floating around and the camera was unable to decide which of us was talking in order to focus on that person. All of this would easily be corrected with proper lighting and a bit of setup. Again,
I only wanted to record it to see if the audio was listenable.
If this is something that works I'm going to try and perfect it as much as we can, and possibly do a weekly release. Anyone with an XBox and Kinect would also be eligible to be a "guest", as it were.
If and when you watch this, keep in mind we were NOT trying to be entertaining. The content is NOT indicative of what a proper "episode" would be like. I just want to post this for some input as to whether or not the
concept seems acceptable.
Would this be something you'd be interested in seeing?
Is the audio acceptable?
Am I just wasting my time?

(Don't answer that last one.)
Without further ado, here's the test. I'm the Howard looking douche, and saloon member SteeL is the other guy.
