I'm sure I'll get blasted for my Jack white pick, but I like his style.
Thing about Jack White is, he's off in his own thing.... he's obviously had a lot of diverse influences, but he's not just another (insert famous guitarist) clone, or a one-trick-pony like The Edge. And he puts the passion into his playing. BTW, "It Might Get Loud" is a cool documentary if ya like gittars.....

It took awhile, but he has become a favorite of mine. Love White Stripes, Racontuers, and his solo stuff. He is the real deal.

Wow. That was awesome. I'd love to see Prince join a rock band and just be a guitarist. Get away from all that disco shit that no one likes.

I'd be happy if he just did an album focused on his guitar playing...the man has some serious chops.

    Favorite rock & roll guitarist?
I love Ron Asheton, Billy Gibbons, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray, a 3-4 year period in the professional life of Mick Ronson, and Johnny Marr.
But my absolute favorite... the one I can listen to even when I don't feel like listening to music is this here colored fellow:

Way back i went on big run of shows. Allmans, the Dead and Phish. All within a 2 week period. I capped it off by going to see Prince with my ex. Wasnt looking forward to it but had to go. Turned out he blew all previous shows away. Amazing performer, amazing show.

Oh yeah I love Django, Eddie Lang, Charlie Christian and -from the latter half of the last century- John Fahey.

I don't really go for those knob twiddling shredders that play a million notes a minute. I'll take a geetarist with attitude any day over wretched incessant noodling.
