I might have to check that out. He's boring as fuck as a guest on O&A. but the show sounds fun.

    The Lords of Salem

Holy shit, this might be the worst movie I've seen in five years. I want to review it and explain what was so bad, but it was just 90 minutes of pure awfulness and I don't know where to start.

Sheri Moon Zombie was the star of this heap of shit and, if you've ever seen a Rob Zombie movie, you know she's a horrible actress. This time is no exception. The movie starts with a long, gratuitous nude shot of her in bed...focusing on her naked ass. I'd never complain about gratuitous nudity, but it felt weird seeing how the shot was completely unnecessary and it's the director's wife. I guess Rob thought that the world needed to see Sheri's 42 year old flat ass again.

The acting is pretty bad all around. One of the actors is Ken Foree (who I'll always be a fan of just because of his role in Romero's Dawn of the Dead) and some of his lines were delivered so awkwardly that I literally laughed out loud.

And, of course, as with every other Rob Zombie movie, there's a character who looks just like, you guessed it, Rob Zombie! And there's tons of background shots of old black and white movies he likes, old rock posters he likes, etc. etc. Every hack trope that Rob has become known for was jam packed in there.

Worst of all was just how generic everything was. The story...if you can actually call it a story, has been done to death. The "scares" consisted of swinging ceiling lights in dark, empty hallways, bleeding wall posters and silent, naked ghost women hiding in dark corners. All of being shit we've seen a million times and not done well at all. The effects were a joke. The "demons" shown towards the end were so laughably bad that you'd almost think that Zombie was lampooning the genre and horror in general. But he absolutely wasn't.

Oh and the ending might be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

I'm not a fan of Zombie's work, but I wanted to like this. I should have known it'd be shit seeing as his press tour consisted of him constantly telling everybody that he doesn't care what people will think of this. Now I know why. He said this is the last horror movie he will ever do. Good. I hope he's a man of his word...even though Halloween II proved that he wasn't.

    A few new movies watched..

The Impossible - Naomi Watts Ewan McGregor - Was thinking this was going to be a shut it off early type of movie - wrong..
Based upon a TRUE STORY that took place during theTsunami to hit Thailand (remember it happening - did not care) Have not watched
a movie that made me say "holy F" out load in a long time - made me feel the pain...The acting was very good Watts & the kid was outstanding.
Not so much by Ewan McGregor. Enjoyed the movie and would give it 7 Whigs out of 10...

Broken City - Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe...A true crime twister...The Bad 1st....Russell Crowe was just OK at best...That's it.. The rest of the cast was very strong.
I liked this movie so much that I watched it start to finish.. Than as usual I watched the features(not strong features) than watched it again right after. I really liked this movie. 8 Whigs out of 10

Gangster Squad - Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn and the Amazing Emma Stone(stunning) Enjoyed this movie a bunch. I'm a fan of these types of movies. Set in 1949. A much watch on Blu Ray. Good story, Great color & lighting. Thought there was some Great acting by Penn, Gosling and of course Emma Stone(I'm in Love).
Would rate this 7 Whigs out of 10.

Just to give a clue on my Whig ratings - HEAT 10 Whigs - The Artist 6.5 Whigs - Zero Dark Thirty 7.5 Whigs - Silver Linings Playbook 7 Whigs

Hope this helps a little with your viewing pleasures....

I liked the part where Sheri and her boyfriend were making fun of the radio DJ's wig and saying he'd look better if he just went bald. I wonder what motivated that dialog? I fell asleep sometime after that and haven't finished it yet.

At one point a teacher is apprehended after he's caught dressing like a monster in order to steal money. Fred cries out, "But you're a teacher! Why do you need any more money!?" Then there's 20 seconds of silence as all the characters look at the camera. Very funny stuff.

I've never been a big Scooby Doo fan, but this is just really fun and geared towards adults (although kids can definitely enjoy it.) The episodes are 20+ minutes long, so they're perfect if you're bored or waiting for something.

Had to watch this based upon CP's recommendation.... and yes, it's pretty funny. Also, Velma wants to hook up with Shaggy but he doesn't want to upset his bff Scooby and Daphne wants to hook up with Fred -- but it seems Fred is gay. And we see their parents too....

It's pretty funny... lots of anti-jokes.

I saw Oblivion this past weekend and thought it was great. I loved Tron-Legacy and like the director Joseph Kosinski and yes, I am a fan of Tom Cruise. (Jack Reacher was probably my favorite movie of last year). The story in Oblivion does take bits and pieces from other sci-fi movies but it was done very well and was a good combo of hard sci-fi and a few great action sequences. I saw it im IMAX and it was impressive.

It definitely gets silly, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Somebody told me there was a Marvel-based cartoon on CC that had a similar comedic style; it poked fun at itself and played up on fanboy nostalgia. But I never got around to checking it out. I think I'm pushing the limit of adult cartoon watching anyway.

Holy shit...I didn't even put that together. That scene was really out of nowhere and didn't go anywhere so, yeah...that very well could have been an inside joke. I normally would think there was anything to it, but Zombie himself compared Sheri's character to Robin. So...

    That's fucking funny.
