Honestly, it's crazy to me that you'd mention that you like my reviews. A couple others have said similar shit and I don't get it. I just ramble and bitch and repeat shit I hear on RLM. But thanks. People in this thread really know their shit...I fucking love it.

Please post your Hobbit thoughts on this thread...and your mom's opinion as well. Especially about the frame rate.

And, lastly, are you an anime fan? I ask only because of your Hate Club thread gifs. I love the classics: Akira, GitS, Appleseed, Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll, etc. But I'm out of the loop when it comes to new shit worth watching.

Applseed was a good comic. Hard to read because the japs do pages ass backwards . There was a Appleseed anime that I used to have on VHS that was very good. It was all hand drawn, not like all this CGI crap now. Anyone know where I could find it on dvd ?

As good as Appleseed is Ghost in the Shell is Shirio's best work. Even more Cyberpunk than Appleseed.

Agreed GitS is Shirow's best work. I still have the soundtrack...which is fantastic (the Akira soundtrack might be the best OST ever!)

I have Appleseed on VHS. I had no idea that it's not available on DVD or Blu-Ray.

I don't want to turn this into a comics/manga thread, but I'm a HUGE fan of the Blade of the Immortal manga trades from Dark Horse. The anime volumes are fucking spot on and brilliant.

I know there are other good anime out there. I just like Shirow's stuff best. I will have to check out Blade of the Immortal.

Fuck yeah. I started this thread only because there was no movie thread on the Stern forum. I'd love to see books, audiobooks and TV talked about here!

That being said, I just finished World War Z. I have no complaints. It was innovative and brought on a new aspect of the genre that we've not seen before.

I wasn't blown away by it because most of the story was "leaked" to me in intervals, but it was still enjoyable. If there's anybody out there who is unfamiliar with WWZ, give it a shot. The audiobook acting is amazing and the book itself is a solid, fun, short read!

Very cool. You and Nibbs may want to change the title so people will know. Monk would do it I'm sure. There was a book thread here a while ago that I really enjoyed. Lots of good posts in it. The new Jukebox was supposed to include books and movies and art, but seems to have gone back to just music. Pheelios and Beetlejosh know a ton of good bands and post good stuff.

i saw the 48 fps 3d version and honestly the first few minutes were... i guess jarring is the best way to describe it, but then my eye caught up to it and i thought it was a really spectacular way to view this type movie. i dont think it would work for everything, but in a film with this much detail put into costumes, sets and cgi, it really worked. having said all that i liked it, but man it seemed a bit drawn out. i imagine the second film will be more of the same, but i am most interested in seeing how they cobble the supplimentary material and silmarillion into a third movie bridging into the LOTR

The Silmarillion happened way before the Hobbit. That book alone could be 3 movies easy. Valinor would be so cool if they did it right.

right, but if they inflate the tale by spending more time with gandalf and the necromancer/sauron then saurons backstory as well as gandalfs would likely come from the silmarillion

Sauron's back story would, but the Council drove him out of Mirkwood during the Hobbit. That was where Gandalf went and why he couldn't go with them for the whole journey.

How do you rank it among Tarantino's other flicks?

It was good but too long. Jamie Foxx & Quentin are harable actors but the German, Leotardo, and Samuell Jackson were excellent.

I think it's one of Tarantinos best. The movies long but it really takes off once DiCaprio's character steps in. I personally had no issues with any of the performances from the actors (including Tarantino).
