Today on my route I was driving down a winding country road with a 55 MPH speed limit. I round a curve and had to slow down for a jeep Cherokee driving 30 MPH. I follow him for about 3 miles, the driver at one point slowed down to 20 while going downhill. Frustrated I just treated it like a tractor, hit my hazard lights and passed them on a straight stretch that was indeed a no passing zone, but I had shit to do besides following this idiot. As I pass I look over and noticed a few key things right away. After the pass the sumbitch suddenly decides he can now drive 60 MPH and follows for about 4 miles to my next stop. He pulls in the driveway behind me, rolls down the window and calls me over to his car when I get out of my truck. He says "what makes you think you can pass me in a no passing zone?" To which I reply, "what makes you think driving 30 miles per hour in a 55 zone, while not wearing your seat belt, drinking a beer and with a kid in the passenger seat who is also not wearing a seat belt makes you a safety expert?". He responds "i'll just call FedEx and complain". Me: "i'll call the highway patrol and child protective services, I've already wrote down your license plate number, the choice is yours man". He shoots me a bird and drives off. I then called the Highway patrol. Hope that kid ends up in a better home.
Not really, I passed him with hazard lights on, didn't tailgate him or anything and went on with trying to get done with my route. Simply treated him like a tractor driving down the road which is a very common thing out here in the country. The road rage was on his part and fueled by beer.
Edit: I'm a professional driver that got my 1 million safe driver award and 250k miles shy of the 2 million mile award. Road rage is not in my nature while driving the FedEx truck.
