from the first show... talk about a different howard now


One of the negative things i've noticed on the david lee roth show is, they don't let any negative callers in. I could tell the first they were calling people the first day who they knew. In other words, there was no chance for anyone negative to call through.
I'm going to tell him to front the negative phone calls, A. it would be interesting...and B. you're suppose to be the brave bold guy. Your showing your weakness by not taking negative calls.

He used to say that about every show. Howard took pride in not screening his calls. He used to criticize Leno, Letterman and every other talk show host for playing it safe. There's nothing left of the old Howard.

And this is another reason why Jay Thomas' show is head and shoulders above howchie.

Could be misperception on my part, but it seems to me most performers become less sensitive to criticism later in life, certainly not so with Howard. I think when he genuinely thought the show was good, he could take the nasty calls on air and do "meanest listener" type bits. Standing up for the current state of the show would be trying to defend the indefensible, still probably less threatening than honestly discussing his ridiculous off-air life.

Did you catch Jason today on the "AGT wrapup show" asking a female caller if she was hot since she sat up front? She blew it by saying he already knew what she looked like and he admitted he was faking not knowing her.

What a mess of a channel.

The best way to do it is pick something from that God Awful show and tell Will it was the best thing ever. then bomb him if you get on the air
