View Full Version : Stephen King tells rich people upset over tax increases: ‘Tough shit’

The iconic writer scolds the superrich (including himself—and Mitt Romney) for not giving back, and warns of a Kingsian apocalyptic scenario if inequality is not addressed in America.

What some of us want—those who aren’t blinded by a lot of bullshit persiflage thrown up to mask the idea that rich folks want to keep their damn money—is for you to acknowledge that you couldn’t have made it in America without America. That you were fortunate enough to be born in a country where upward mobility is possible (a subject upon which Barack Obama can speak with the authority of experience), but where the channels making such upward mobility possible are being increasingly clogged. That it’s not fair to ask the middle class to assume a disproportionate amount of the tax burden. Not fair? It’s un-fucking-American is what it is. I don’t want you to apologize for being rich; I want you to acknowledge that in America, we all should have to pay our fair share.

Bill Maher posed the question of who was more successful, Obama or Romney. The case can be made that Obama is far more successful. He started with nothing, and as a minority was able to get a Harvard education and eventually become president of the United States. Romney was born with a silver butt plug in his ass. What has he really accomplished? He used money to make money. Easy to do when you have it to begin with.

Super rich folk like Mr. King could have 70% of their wealth confiscated and they would still have 9,000% more than people who are just plain rich. He's pandering. Why? I don't know, maybe he's contemplating a run for office in Maine.

Plus they know they never will have to give over all their wealth so they can say shit like that.

If there ever was a chance that the govt would tax them at that rate they woud just hire a lawyer to make all the adjustments needed to save it.

King made more money off of one short story then most people make in 20 years.

Fuck him.

Yeah, Bammy came from nothing, which is why he was able to live on Mercer Island and in Hawaii growing up. Bammys mom was a stupid whore, her parents were wealthy.
