View Full Version : Do you have a favorite actor or actress???

DrivenByDemons

I'd probably go with John Malkovich, but only in the movie "Being John Malkovich". I prefer when people are themselves and don't hide behind characters. It's bullshit to act like someone else. Any actor who is playing a role other than themselves is obviously trying to hide or pretend they are a woman. Every time I see a Movie or TV show where the actors are playing someone other than themselves I get really really angry and start cussing a lot and talk bad about them because it's such bullshit. They are not welcome in my house or on my TV.

Paul Reubens...yes, I am biased because I'm obsessed with Pee Wee Herman, but he steals scenes in just about every movie he's in like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" "Nice Dreams" and "Blow" just to name three.

As far as actresses go, I'd have to say Marlene Dietrich because she's the total package.

I would like to clarify that it is OK to change your real name to something else first though. Even though John Wayne's real name was Marion Robert Morrison I still only want him to be his REAL self - John Wayne. If he were to play a role such as John McClain, I would hate him for not being his true self and being honest. He would obviously be trying to hide something by calling himself anything other than John Wayne (not Marion Robert Morrison)

I would enjoy this but I am accepting that it will never happen. No big whoop, I just find the hardcore anti-actor comments funny. If I'm wrong or if people disagree with me maybe I need to speak louder - that'll make me correct!

Then again I'm the only one keeping this going. I think I'm over it.

damn, thats a scary big old castle...wonder what yr it was built?I love it and I love the fact that its on quite a bit of land. I would just like to have a venerable old house to run about. I would keep it mostly empty.

According to another site, it was built in 1895.

I could get kinda cozy in that shack, but I'd like it better off in the woods with a long driveway....

Did you by chance read my last PM?Yes I did. I'll reply when I get a chance to sit down for a little while.

Its on 42 acres...some of it wooded. Harrodsburg is kind of a shithole except for Shaker Town.

when you see a house like that ya gotta wonder about the family that built that house & its historyIndeed. Its a short way away from a community founded by the Shakers who were a group of self sufficient puritanical types. They built two sets of stairs in each building, one for men, one for women. They were forbidden from having sex, so their populations started thinning out in the early 1900's.

It must have been weird having them as your neighbors.

fucking Mortensen is amazing.... I really like him in that Western... Appaloosa (based on the Robert Parker novel)-also great in Cronenberg's A History of Violence (fucking Ed Harris is a real pisser in that one, too), Eastern Promises and Hidalgo (a Western set in Saudia Arabia).

I was thinking of Cheech & Chong's Next Movie when Tommy Chong and Cheech as his "cousin" Dwayne "Red" Mendoza go with Bob & the great Edie McClurg to a comedy club where Paul Reubens is doing his Pee Wee Herman stand-up. Earlier in the movie they have a run-in with Reubens at his "day job" as an asshole hotel manager.

As a result of your original MJP post, we went ahead and ripped open the shrinkwrap and watched Dirty Little Billy tonight. Just finished watching it a few minutes ago. Music is very Morricone-esque. Much of the film takes place in a one room bar. The film is shot in that kind of Deadwood sepia... and everything is covered in mud, dirt, grease, and filth.

http://imageshack.us/a/img513/407/mjpollard2a.jpg

Mostly it's a 4-actor film but Nick FUCKING Nolte has a non-speaking role in the beginning of the film (my wife had to point him out to me...I almost shit), also a very young but very good Gary Busey has a 7 minute speaking role as a character named "Basil Crabtree", Uncle Leo from Seinfeld (Len Lesser) gives a very menacing performance as a cattle rustler and there are a few other character actor greats in very small bits -including Minor Watson and Ed Lauter.

This movie isn't for everyone... it has very Euro feel to it and by "Euro" I definitely don't mean Sergio Leone. It's more a character study than an action-packed Western although there's sporadic gunplay, fist-fights, and a gory knife-fight between two hoooers... one with a heart of gold and the other with a head of oily hair. The oily headed hoooer (she looks a little like Janis Joplin) gets her ear cut off.

1st thing I ever saw Michael J. Pollard in was a Lost In Space episode. A few years later I saw the Star Trek episode "Miri" in syndication.
Of course everyone remembers him as Barney Fife's "Cousin Virgil" in the Andy Griffith Show.

http://imageshack.us/a/img9/6604/mjpcousinvirgil.jpg

Besides Bonnie & Clyde and Dirty Little Billy, MJP was in Hannibal Brooks with Oliver Reed, Little Fauss & Big Halsey with Redford (as depicted in your poster above), and was terrific in the classic Melvin And Howard - a movie in which the brilliant Mary Steenburgen shows off her adorable tiny little titties.

http://imageshack.us/a/img140/8641/hannibalbrookscover.jpg

Since then it's mostly been sporadic tv roles for MJP but if you took his early film appearances in Hemingway's Adventures of A Young Man, Disney's Summer Magic (with Hayley Mills), Wild Angels, The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming and the Western spoof Frenchie King (with Brigittte Bardot and Claudia Cardinale as outlaws) along with all of his other tv appearances you could have a reasonably bizarre 2-day Michael J. Pollard film festival.
I'm sure he'd be proud to show up & be the guest of honor.

PeeWee/Paul Reubens is gay :hat:I always thought he was, but then I saw footage of him at events with the actress Debi Mazar, who's a bit of an odd one herself. It wouldn't be a far-fetched that if Paul Reubens was straight that she would be his girlfriend. Then again I never cancelled out the possibility that he is gay and they were good friends. Suffice to say it didn't solve the mystery for me.

Also, he was arrested for jerking it to hetero porn, but I know men cruise for other men in any porn theater be it gay or straight.

I'm right behind you girl. I'm gonna be 30 in 5 months. It only seems like last month that I was 20 and popping E's and dancing to God knows what at the clubs until sunrise. :tears:

I wish I knew what to tell you, but I too have mentally pictured my youth washing away, out of my grasp. It will bum you out for a while. :o

Hang in there.
