If you made it to the gym today please post some workout details and maybe spread some rep for motivation.

At least for me, actually making it to the gym is the hardest part of the workout.

today;

45 minute spin class

4 sets of semi wide pullups 9,6,9,8

I need the variety that a gym provides to keep me motivated and fit year round so that no matter if i get injured or just over trained i can simply shift to something new and maintain and build.

It sounds like you basically do the gym both with and without the gym so please participate and post some details!

I am addicted to Expresso bikes. http://www.expresso.net/UserPortal/welcome.do

Stationary virtual reality bikes. There are tons of different courses to ride which can help hold your interest but the best thing is you make an account and log in each time you ride. You can challenge other people or ride against your ghost which is your own best time. It's great for me because I hate mundane exercise but this motivates me to always push a little harder.

You can also have your rides automatically post to facebook and twitter but then you stand to take abuse from your friends.

No. They have 4 of them at my gym. One of the only things that gets me there on a regular basis. I hate lifting weights and treadmills.

Not quite the gym but did about 5.5 miles snowshoeing in the Sierras today. It's more difficult than hiking because you're breaking a trail meaning you're making one through about 3 feet of powder. It's extreme but the views and exercise are well worth it.

I try to focus on consistency ........Lately I'm on a 3 day rotation.....run/lift/yoga.....each one compliments the other

I don't run 10 miles, I probably could build up to that, but then I'd get sick of it...LOL. So I keep it @ 3 for now

When I lift I try to get a good workout squats, incline bench, military press and other assorted things mixed in as supersets. I used to lift for over an hour every other day...Again, i got sick of it...now I probably lift 2 to 3 times a week...get it done in a half hour to 45 minutes...been doing that steady for years

Yoga, is the thing I really enjoy in my old age. When no one is around, I blast some music, kill the lights and do a 40 minute routine. Non-impact, great for stretching, good for your head....It works out all of the kinks from the other workouts(lifting/running)

I'm a believer in lifestyle.....if I had to make it to a gym to workout, I'd eventually quit...that's just how I am

Also, if given the choice of an elevator or stairs, I take the stairs....Our culture is odd, we seem to have developed an aversion to anything physical...we pay one guy to mow our lawn, then pay another guy to let us workout in his gym...LOL. seems crazy to me. The yard work is good for you.

I'm rambling, I'm a freak, but it works for me...and you asked

best of luck

chair dips kill the tris
yup

to expand a little you can do them at least 2 ways, chairs back to back with you in the middle (with both seats facing out, away from you and you dip holding the top of the backs) and chairs front and back, seats facing each other and you in the middle (hands on 1 seat and feet on the other).

side to side is the hard way IMO.

Started off with a warm up completing 2x with 30 seconds rest in between sets. No rest btw exercises:
15 Y Squats
8 Decline pushups
8 per side forward lunge
8 inverted rows

The did another specific warmup of (no rest in between exercises, 60 seconds between sets:
8 Bulgarian split squats
8 dumbbell squats

The rest I split into 3 circuits. Each circuit is performed without rest in between individual exercises but a 60 second rest between each circuit. Complete each individual circuit 3 times before moving to the next superset.

1A - Bulgarian Split Squat x 8
1B - Dumbbell Squat x 12

2A - Dumbell Chest Press (Palms facing in) x 8
2B - Stability Ball Leg Curl x 20

3A - Jackknife x 10
3B - Stability ball glute-ham raise x 10

Then followed it by running intervals (noted as speed of X/10. 10/10 would be like you were running from a guy with a knife)
5:00 minute warm-up (3/10)

Alternated between the following doing each 6 times:
0:30 (9/10)
1:00 (3/10)

5:00 Cool down (3/10)

This was Wed. I work out Mon, Wed, Fri and it only takes about an hour to complete all the above. Have lost 41 lbs in the past 3 months and feel great. I have a different workout for Mon, Wed, Fri and will do them for a month and then switch to a new workout. I don't go to the gym. Bought a bench, stability ball, set of dumbbells and a pullup bar and do the workouts in my garage and run in the neighborhood. If the weather is not good, I do the intervals on an exercise bike.

One of my rest days as far as lifting goes.

Was short on time so I ran intervals

5 Minute Warm Up at a 3/10 Pace

Then ran at an 8/10 pace for 1:00
Rest for 1:30 at a 3/10 pace
Did that 7 times

Finished with cool down period of 5:00 at a 3/10 pace.

Does it count that I coach my kids 5 year old baseball team and will be pitching tonight to them? Probably around 125-150 pitches.

Anyone know any exercises for the rotator-cuff?I had surgery but now I can only lift my arm about75% over my head and it hurts and is weak-anyone know?Thank you.

Being in this field, I would highly suggest that you pay for at least one session with a PT, or physical therapist. Your orthopedic should have required you to go to PT immediately after your surgery and should have never sent you home from surgery without a script for PT. Your doctor should have a certain protocol he has sent to most of the reputable PT establishments in your town.

I would highly recommend calling your doctor and discussing this. Rotator Cuff surgery is a delicate surgery and without doing the correct physical therapy after the surgery, you can lead yourself to more problems and having to go through the surgery again.

Edited to add that I find it almost impossible that the ortho did not discuss this with you. Surely you have gone back for wound care at the very least. I realize from reading your post again that your surgery could have been done a long time ago or a while back. You may have very well done all of your PT after surgery. I would still recommend that you go to a PT and have them work on your range of motion. That is the only way to get your range of motion and strength back in that shoulder.
